Summer/Autumn 2016 - Fleishman Ag Building, Room 301
Sex Positive (SexPos), is an Expansion of the FemSex Concept to speak to the entire Spectrum of Genders. It is based on the Female Sexuality student-taught course that originated at UC Berkeley in 1993 and has spread to a few campuses across the US. Our program strives to build a strong community focused on providing support and using empowerment as the basis for social change.
SexPos strives to create a safe space that encourages and facilitates the ability of everyone to learn about their bodies, explore their sexuality, and expand their understanding of diversity. The class covers a broad spectrum of topics related to Communication, Sex, BDSM, (Body) Image, Disability, Drugs, Gender, Relationships, Masculinity, Women’s Health, and more.
SexPos challenges students by exposing them to diverse opinions and experiences different from their own. It is about bringing people with different backgrounds together to form a very unique and welcoming community that will embrace and support them along their journey. It is our hope that by the end of this course, all individuals will leave the class with a newfound sense of empowerment and a greater understanding of how empowerment can be expressed in various ways.
The class relies on discussion, assignments, introspection, readings, and guest speakers to examine these topics. We strongly believe that everyone stands to gain something from SexPos, so we encourage EVERYONE to apply.
